This website is a work in progress and viewers may expect to see several changes to our content as we work hard to make it better.  If you have questions, comments or items you'd like to submit (photos or fishing stories), please email them to Terry Thompson or forward to Mr. Louis Vallee.

A few of the buttons on the left aren't working yet, but we still wanted to publish current results for our 72nd Annual 4th of July Fishing Rodeo.

Thanks to Stephen Brown for submitting a few photos.  Send us your pictures and fishing stories for us to post on our photo gallery.

Give us some ideas to add to our website.

Anyone want to share fishing locations, rig numbers, coordinates, tips, tricks, DIY lures and jigs, etc..  I'm considering putting up a page or two to help out fellow fishermen find, catch and keep fish.  I know you've been out there throwing darts and not having much luck, so if there's a way we can help each other out, that'd be awesome.

LA Sportsman Magazine - Thai Tonic

Tribute to American Wounded War Veterans

Check out the Thai Tonic on LA Sportsman TV.  No interviews, but several clips showing my boat.  I volunteered to take two wounded soldiers fishing for the 1st Annual Wounded War Veterans Fishing Rodeo.  It was held the last weekend in September at Empire's Delta Marina.  Great fun was had by all.

Here's a link to the upcoming show.  I and my deckhand LT George Wiley took two soldiers from Ft. Hood, Texas offshore for some king mackerel and cobia fishing.  Lots of keeper size red snapper were caught and released as well.  Picked up a few lane snapper and lost a couple of nice AJ's in 200 ft of water.  We were the only boat going offshore, as everyone else stayed in the bays and marsh for specks and reds.

Check out the video at Louisiana Sportsman Magazine's website.

AWARDS BANQUET

This year’s awards banquet will be Wednesday October 14,at 7:00p.m. at the Club House. We will have a steak dinner for members and their immediate family. Guests may be invited for a $15.00 charge. Please contact Ed Dawdy at 802-9822 by 10/08/09 with the number in your party if you plan to attend. An accurate count is needed. This year, instead of the usual selection of gifts offered, winners will be given gift certificates from West Marine. This is to reduce the amount of work involved in getting the various prizes purchased in time for Awards Night. It also shows our appreciation to West Marine for supporting our July 4 th Rodeo.

TELEPHONE TREE

We have “outsourced” our telephone tree to a local company who will be making reminder calls for regular club meetings as well as notifying the membership of special events. We used our current contact list to set up the phone tree. If you have a preferred number that you wish to receive the notification on, please contact Stephen Brown at 302-6745.

Grand Isle Tournament

The annual Grand Isle tournament was held one week after the Rodeo.  Details of the tournament are quite sketchy; however many club members were rumored to have participated.

Only 2 weigh slips were turned in during this tournament.  A 14.5 lb Red Snapper caught by Jimmy Redburn and a 16 oz. margarita caught by Juan Escobar?  Evidently what happens in Grand Isle, stays in Grand Isle.

Red Snapper/King Mackerel Tournament

7/25-26/ 2009

A total of 7 boats fished the tournament. ON THE ROCKS was the top Red Snapper boat with 4 fish weighing 42.6 lbs.,  2

nd place was the T&T with 40.5 lbs.  and 3rd place was the JP IV with 28.55 lbs.

The largest Red Snapper weighed 19.35 lbs.  and was caught by Joey Adaway on the FULL NELSON.  The JP IV was top King Mackerel boat with 2 fish weighing 32.35 lbs.,  2 nd place was DUE SOUTH with 25.05 lbs. and 3rd place was the PEPPERDALE with 24.35 lbs.

The largest King Mackerel weighed 17.2 lbs.  and  was caught by Tonya Laughlin on the JP IV.  A protest against the JP IV has been filed by the T&T for illegal chumming off Martin 13 NE rock using Blue Bell ice cream.  A clarification from the I.G.F.A . is pending.
